Azar Design Co, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering and Surveying, P.C., is an award-winning multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, environmental, and land surveying consulting firm with offices in Buffalo, Ithaca, Albany and New York City, New York. We are seeking an individual to join our Land Surveying group full-time as a Survey CADD Technician to fill a key position in our land survey department. The applicant will work in conjunction with Professional Land Surveyors to perform survey drafting tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and be adaptable working effectively on a variety of surveying projects alongside planning, engineering, and surveying team members.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Carlson and MicroStation).

  • Work closely with surveyors, engineers, and other professionals to understand project specifications and ensure accurate deliverables. 

  • Interpret field notes, sketches, maps, and other materials to understand project requirements and develop accurate drawings. 

  • CADD drafting of boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, utility surveys, record surveys and acquisition mapping.

  • Process field data, draft utility systems, and prepare digital terrain models. 

  • Review and check drawings for accuracy and ensure they meet company and industry standards. 

  • Prepare As-built mapping and construction stakeout computations. 

  • Research survey records and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience with AutoCAD, (MicroStation a plus), and surveying software. 

  • Experienced with New York State Department of Transportation Land Surveying and Mapping standards.

  • Understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment. 

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications. 

  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, such as areas, volumes, and slopes. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals. 

  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to survey data and drawings. 

  • Highly motivated, detail oriented.

  • Proficient technical written and verbal communication skills.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.


Preferred but not required:

  • Working out of our Buffalo, Albany, Ithaca or NYC office. Remote work will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

  • An associate’s degree in a survey related field and/or formal CAD training preferred.

  • General knowledge of field survey procedures and equipment. 

  • Previous survey field crew experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Earth Pro.

  • Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to fulfill the job responsibilities would be considered qualifying.

Pay Range: $28.00 to $40.00 depending on experience.
